Blogging has been such a gift to those of us who love to write, but are tired of diaries. I talk a lot so blogging is also a gift to my poor hubby.
A few years ago I came to this realization: The answers to life's questions and struggles are always simple. From losing weight (eat less, exercise more) to saving money (put some away each paycheque), the answers are in fact, very simple. But almost never easy.
By changing my thinking to acknowledge the simplicity of the solutions and accepting that I have to do the hard work, I gave up the excuses used to avoid being happy.
Simple, but not easy. I just had to be worth the work. I made that realization as an overweight, deeply indept, miserable wife, mother and secretary. Over the last 11 years I have lost 120 pounds, made my way up the corporate ladder to CEO and now have settled into my perfect life as a retired 49-year-old first-time housewife.
I don't have all the answers, but I have a few secrets that I'm aching to share.
Personal accountability means that we accept our role in all things good and bad in our life. We accept that the only thing in life we can control is our actions and reactions to the things that happen to us.
While it removes a ton of excuses of how we "have no choice", it allows us to be in charge of ourselves, of our own happiness.
As one of the happiest people I know, I am ready to pursue dreams I never dared dream as a "victim" of my environment. Yahoooo! Life is good.
Whether or not anyone reads my ramblings, I am grateful for the outlet. If you are out there, thanks for reading. Your thoughts and opinions are welcome :)
